Tennis case study : Julia didn't deal with pressure situations very well. She had a tendency to 'wobble' on set or match points. After a bad point she would start calling herself names and become annoyed and frustrated. This resulted in a loss of concentration and often the next point. She had also noticed that she could become upset by a bad line call and would often lose the next point as a result.
Football case study : Nick was curious as to why he experienced inconsistency with his football performance. Some days he played extremely well, other days things could go wrong for him. Once things started to go wrong, his negative thoughts spiraled out of control. Whilst Nick was physically as fit as ever, he noticed his concentration and focus tended to waver during a match.
